First StepThere are two parts of this unit, firstly, 10th grade students will be divided into 2 groups in a writing workshop. One group needs to discuss and collect the information of similarities of cultural traditions between China and America, while another group needs to find the differences. I will recommend the students to communicate with some online users from America through social media, such as Facebook or Twitter, which may arouse students’ interests and enthusiasm and would be beneficial to their research. Then, based on their research, they need to present their results in front of the class by creating a webpage or PPT. After the presentation, I will ask them to write down their opinions on the similarities and differences of the cultural traditions between two countries. Then, I will assign several reading materials or videos related to cosmopolitanism and globalization to them.

Second Step After discussing their views of the presentation, the reading materials, and the videos, they need to be engaged in the second part of this unit. The first step is posing a compelling question about their cosmopolitan point of views based on what they have learnt thus far. In addition to the reading materials that I provided, they need to find more extra related information or research paper. The next step is to analyze information and creatively synthesize information. Building on these steps, students will be asked to demonstrate their perspectives to respond their compelling questions. After peer review and obtaining feedback from teachers, they need to revise their paper and engage in finishing their final product.
